Sonia
Cateriano was born in Arequipa City, Peru. She began work as
a textile artist in 2000, when she formed the
company, Alpakarequipay, with 13 crafts artisans who had studied
with her.
After obtaining four years of
experience working at Alpakarequipay, she decided to form her
own company. Not long after, she won an award for her work in
an important international contest which took place in the city
Arequipa.
Today Sonia exports her hand-crated
Alpaca and cotton textiles to Europe, while still designing and
creating textiles for major Peruvia
companies.
