Andrés began
his craft of designing and creating his own line of
handmade rugs in 1960, in the province of Condesuyos
(Arequipa). Later he moved to the city of Arequipa, where he learned
to develop new designs and weave the highest quality rugs. Later he
decided to start his own company with his wife and
sons.
Andres began traveling
around Peru and the world to show his creations. In his
travels, Andres showed his rugs in various Peruvian cities
and at national and international Fairs.
In his 45 years
of designing rugs, Andres has developed and perfected many
original techniques and designs that have resulted in
exquisite handcrafted works of art: beautiful, durable
rugs of the highest quality. His work incorporates
many renowned pre-Colombian Peruvian designs typical
of the Nazca, Chavín, and other styles.
It is worth mentioning
that Andres' work is all handmade using the intricate "knots"
technique, and is made of Alpaca and sheep wool,
many in their beautiful natural colors.
